10134 Y-wing Attack Starfighter (2004) — The 2018 UCS Y-wing has markedly different and more accurate proportions. The 2004 Y-wing had a considerably longer fuselage and much longer ion engine nacelles that had a tendency to sag under their own weight. The nacelles should be about 3/4 as long as the fuselage (about halfway from rear through cockpit), and the 2018 version gets this right. The 2004 Y-wing's proportions were simply wrong. The new version also includes 1,967 pieces vs. 1,473 pieces, includes a pilot minifigure where the older did not, and features improved sand blue details and reduced white compared to earlier versions.

75192 UCS Millennium Falcon — While the Falcon is larger and more monumental (7,541 pieces), the Y-wing is much more swooshable and playable. The Y-wing sits comfortably on its stand with no drooping, whereas the Falcon is less swooshable due to its monstrous size.

UCS Slave I — The Y-wing is more swooshable than the awkwardly shaped Slave I. Both are excellent LEGO sets, but the Y-wing offers superior playability and structural stability.

75172 Y-wing Starfighter (Rogue One System-scale) — The UCS version shares many design elements with the System-scale Y-wing, including similar cockpit construction techniques using robot arms with reversed headlight bricks. The UCS set scales up the design successfully with improved greebles, sand blue canopy (printed with same design as Rogue One Y-wing), and exposed coolant piping.
