6276 Eldorado Fortress (original 1989) 78 — The new set dramatically improves upon the original in every meaningful way: better instructions, 2-3 times more bricks in the fortress alone (2,509 vs 506 total pieces), superior techniques and play features, brick-built base instead of raised baseplate, much better crane design, and modernized aesthetics. The original has charm but doesn't hold a candle to the update. However, the original raised baseplate did have some nostalgic appeal, though the brick-built design clearly looks better with more detail.

6277 Imperial Trading Post (1992) — The merchant ship in 10320 is an update of the small merchant vessel from 6277, receiving a much higher part count with SNOT hull construction using greater variety of curved elements. The new ship captures the style of the original build while being significantly improved. The reviewer could not provide a direct comparison as they don't own the original 6277.
