So I just came across the bootleg reddit page... and it's hilarious how cheap some of these people are. Some highlights are... Regarding a bootleg microfighter: Quote I got the newer version with Chewie recently. Best $4 I ever spent! At Lego's price of more than double that, I'd never even think about buying it. The microfighter permasale at $7.99 is a fortune apparently. Regarding buying bootlegs with bootleg boxes: Quote It costs a bit more, of course, but it is great for gifting purposes or collecting purposes. I'd love to see someone with these bootleg boxes displayed in their house. Instruction quality and excellent customer service: Quote Purchased a set on Aliexpress several months ago and just got around to opening up the package to build it in the last month or so and saw that I only had the backside of the instructions that were printed (I can't remember from which step, I think it was from step 13 on). I tried multiple times to get the seller to scan or take a picture of the front side of the instructions so I can build it, but unfortunately the seller has been pulling me around, making excuses and never actually sent me anything, even after I made another purchase from his shop as a sign of good faith. Don't get me wrong, his shop is great, but I wish he had a little more customer service, especially for returning customers. So not only do these fools buy the bootlegs. But when the customer service sucks and the product fails to meet expectations how do we respond? We buy more as a sign of good faith and complement them. Is this some sort of brick related Stockholm syndrome? In response to someone saying their child pointed out that parts were fake due to poor functionality: Quote Ah, the mistake here was in getting them anything authentic in the first place to judge against! Apparently bootleg Harry Potter goes under the name "MagicUSolrd? People are buying knockoffs then using genuine parts to alter them. When will we see the bootleg partout sites like Bricklink? I'll register Bootlink.com today! One common theme I am seeing is people dipping their toe in then saying things like " I still have Lego sets to make but with how inexpensive bogus bricks is I can't resist!". Which makes it seem like a substance addiction. Maybe the bootleggers are putting something in the plastic to get people hooked? It's all fun until they realize that everyone else gets to sell their used bricks but theirs only end up in the garbage as no one will buy them. Have seen a few posts regarding listing their bootleg sets on eBay and them being blocked. Then complaining about how they can't get rid of them and local listings get severely lowballed. Laughing hard at the cheers and kudos people give when a set is actually complete without broken or warped pieces. Apparently "It came with all the pieces!" is a surprise, not an expectation as it is with LEGO. Well that was my venture through the bootleg reddit page. Many laughs were had, and a better grasp on what kind of scum buys this crap for display. It makes us reseller scum look a little bit better in comparison.
