The future of licensed LEGO themes

I am thinking what will happen in 10 or 20 years with LEGO themes like Harry Potter, Lord of The Rings etc.? We have currently no longstanding expertise as the themes in question are not really old or as it is the case for Star Wars, there are from time to time some new movies which keep the theme alive. But in 10 or 20 years only AFOLs will be really aware of the old licensed themes and all the new kids will have no clue about. Does it mean that it could happen that the value of these old sets will decrease instead of becoming higher and higher?
