From my personal experience, I believe that the inclination for picking and reselling runs in the blood. My father was both a picker and a ruthless reseller. The revelation came in '85, just before Christmas, in our little town. The Nintendo 8-Bit was all the rage, and the adults were whispering that it was sold out everywhere, nearly impossible to find, and securing one for Christmas required a miracle. One day, my sister and I decided to explore our parents' closet out of boredom. To our surprise, there were about 20 Nintendos stacked to the ceiling. It was undoubtedly one of the most surreal moments of my childhood. As it turned out, Dad had purchased every single system in town that Fall, well before the other adults caught wind of its popularity. Secretly witnessing my neighbors' expressions from my window, as they stood out in the cold, lining up alongside our house to purchase Nintendos from my dad -- forever solidified the true definition of a scumbag in my mind, lol.
