fake lego affecting retired set pricing?

hi guys, i've been building a lego portfolio past few years - star wars, LOTR, modular sets. I've been seeing a lot more fake lego on ebay recently. I have to confess that I bought one to test them out, doesn't have the lego "snap" sound/feeling, was not a fun build. however, I have noticed that prices seemed to have plateaued this year on some of the sets retired during the past 12-18 months, especially the modular sets - like town hall. are these fake lego products selling at 10% of the retired price affecting the overall market? will this continue to depress prices? what do you guys think, am I missing something?
