Just who would spend £5000 on LEGO?

I was just thinking yesterday, who does actually pay thousands for LEGO sets? I know that if you look on Amazon etc... There's plenty of sets listed at massive prices. But just who are the people willing to pay thousands and why? Apologies if this is a daft question, but I'm genuinely interested to learn who has the cash and desire to spend so much on a LEGO set and if they wanted a set so bad, why not just buy it when it first came out?
