To Sell - With or without minifigures, that is the question

My apologies if this question has been asked, I looked but couldn't find anything on this topic. I have an old Arkham Asylum 7785, and am looking to sell it. Irrespective of this set or others, when reselling, is there are hard and fast rule to selling sets complete or breaking them up (lego and mini figures)? Or should I take it on a case by case basis? Your comments are most appreciated.
