Remakes: Value of the Original?

Something that a lot of Star Wars fans or Super Heroes fans appreciate is authenticity. As LEGO keeps creating new pieces, the creativity and look of the vehicles and models get more authentic. But what does this mean for the originals? Obviously, the value will go up some either way, but does the presence of newer models make them less valuable? I am considering selling my used, but complete (including bo and instructions) 6210 Jabba's Sail Barge, but am trying to discern the best time. Do I wait a couple more years and wait for 75020 to become retired? Also, while you're at it, what is the best time of the year to sell it? I want to get $120 minimum, but do I wait until November/December for the Christmas rush? There's also the factor of more units being available on eBay at that time. Will it significantly affect the price mine is sold at?
