SSD purchase on Ebay

I bought two super star destroyers for $720 total with free shipping on eBay and just received them. I opened the boxes and both were directly shipped from lego. I checked the invoice and the total price was $920 which included $120 shipping cost. My question is how the heck did the seller make any money? It was used with option 6 payment so I am wondering if he used VIP points. Anyone have any insight? I'm happy with the price for the most part but this transaction raised my eyebrows.
