Going small but large quantities of transactions

I know we talk a lot on this forum on betting on the big sets that will yield bigger profits, but does anybody concentrate on doing a whole bunch of small transactions instead? For example, instead of selling a big, specific set and making $100, concentrate on selling 25-35 small sets (e.***. anything from minifigs, parts, to polybags or even small boxes) and yielding the same profit? Seems to me there's potential in doing this but you'd almost have to buy cheaply in bulk or get dirt cheap sets and part them out... Any thoughts?
