Anyone here start investing BEFORE 10179?

From a beginner's standpoint, Lego investing appears to have exploded since the returns on the ucs falcon began skyrocketing. Every set that is now selling for $1000+ was released after the falcon. You could say the falcon signalled the birth of serious, adult- focused sets and Lego never looked back. Or you could say that this whole phenomenon is only four years old and could collapse any day now. Obviously we want the former to be true, but it all just seems a bit weird that nothing before the falcon has appreciated anywhere near as much as EVERYTHING since. For example, what was the ucs rebel snowspeeder selling for before the falcon retired? Also, how many of those imperial flagships selling for 300+ are just going to sit in the buyers' closets until they hopefully appreciate a bit more? Is this beoming a market of investors selling to investors, or are there really enough new Lego lovers who didn't know about these sets at retail and want to build them now, no matter the cost?
