What exactly is "mint condition"?

I am new to this and read about buying only "mint condition" sets. I received 4 different large sets through lego.com. One 10937 Batman asylum had a corner that was badly dinged. Lego paid for me to return the box and sent me a new set. I just received three 6858 Dynamic Duo Funhouses shipped from TRU. One box has a corner with a 4-inch long crease, and the same corner looks bad as you can tell pressure was applied to this corner. I will need to return it to our one local TRU store. I was there two days ago, and the store only had two boxes, and both had some minor corner damage. Is it truly crucial to need a perfect box for investment purposes? If so, this seems like a very difficult endeavor.
